Bar Tool Care and Storage
Turn the smoker off, let its hot parts cool and identify the exact model before cleaning. A removable delivery hose, a burn chamber and the internal fan or motor path are different components; do not flush the assembled appliance with solvent.

Locate the restriction before assuming the hose is blocked
Reduced smoke can come from a kinked hose, obstructed mesh, accumulated residue, an improperly seated part or a device fault. Stop using the smoker and inspect the accessible components once cool. Applewood use alone does not establish which part is obstructed or which cleaner is appropriate.
Disconnect power or remove batteries as the manufacturer directs. Empty only cooled ash and keep moisture away from the powered body. Do not keep the fan running against a blockage to force it clear.
What the Smoking Gun Pro instructions actually permit
Breville’s CSM700 manual allows warm soapy water for the removable hose and tube ends, and identifies separate cleaning steps for the mesh and removable barrel. The main unit is wiped rather than immersed. These are model-specific instructions, not permission to wash every smoke infuser in the same way.
If you own a different Smoking Gun or a different brand, use its own manual. A cleaning procedure for the Pro model does not automatically apply to a compact unit with a different smoke path.
A sensible sequence for an approved removable hose
- Wait for complete cooling and follow the power-disconnection instructions.
- Remove the hose only at the points identified by the maker.
- Wash using the permitted method and clean the ends without gouging the material.
- Rinse away cleaning residue and dry fully before reassembly.
- Inspect for remaining deposits, cracks, swelling or damage.
Do not push a sharp wire through the hose or enlarge an outlet. A component that remains obstructed or damaged after its approved cleaning routine is a replacement or service question.
Why not alcohol, acetone or boiling water?
A solvent can be incompatible with a hose, seal or coating, and may leave residue or introduce a flammable liquid into the appliance. Do not assume an online resin-removal trick is approved for your model. Likewise, boiling can exceed a component’s permitted treatment.
Use a stronger method only when the manufacturer explicitly specifies it for that exact removable part. Do not pour cleaner into a motor housing or run the unit to evaporate solvent.
Prevent the next blockage
Follow the recommended fuel quantity and cleaning schedule, keep the hose unkinked and remove cooled residue before buildup becomes severe. Use the maker’s specified food-smoking fuel. After cleaning, reassemble according to the instructions and check operation as directed before using it on a drink.
Frequently asked questions
Does applewood require a special solvent?
The wood name alone does not identify an approved cleaner. Follow the appliance and component instructions.
Can I flush the whole smoker with alcohol?
No. Do not flush the assembled device. Use only the approved cleaning method for each identified removable component.
What if warm soapy water does not clear the hose?
Stop and consult the maker about an approved alternative or replacement. Do not escalate to an unapproved solvent or sharp tool.
Can I copy the CSM700 cleaning method for another model?
Not automatically. The hose, powered body and serviceable parts may differ; check the exact manual.
